In her work Kala Newman looks at society and the different layers within it. Where our perception is constantly influenced by our surroundings, politics and the economy. She asks questions about ‘the truth’, for example when is it true and who makes these decisions. And is it always only a personal statement that we can make?

At the moment she is working under the title; ‘Research on creatures out of society’ By blacking out parts of photographs cut out from newspapers she puts them in a new context. This dramatises the situation and forces you to take another look at a world that we thought we knew.

She recently showed work in Object Salon, The White Space Gallery, London. And was part of the group show Trace in Manchester, Cardiff, Frankfurt and London. She also took part in a Micro Perfomance night London. And is a co-founder of I.R.P. (art magazine).
